Most of us know the feeling of running free and feeling strong sometime in our girlhood.  But as the lioness in the painting reminds us, she is strong – one of the strongest and smartest in the animal kingdom –  yet she is endangered in our world just as the spirit of this nine-year-old is as she enters the precipice of adolescence.  Will she be able to maintain her energy when confronted with the expectations that await her?
